Shunting welding
WebOct 1, 2024 · Abstract. A reference-based adaptive resistance spot welding (RSW) method intended to reduce the shunting effect in short-pitch (≤40 mm) RSW is proposed in this study. As the weld pitch decreases, the nugget diameter and dynamic resistance level concurrently decrease by an amount equivalent to the increased shunting effect. WebShunting affects the quality of the weld and the goal of the study was to create guidelines for RSW to minimize its impact on the weld quality. In order to minimize waste from production and to reduce the welding time there is need for understanding of what the shunt effect depends on.
